Most elementary kids don't have a learning problem. They have a tool problem. We hand a seven-year-old a textbook and expect it to stick. We say "study harder" without ever showing them how. But a young child's brain works nothing like a teenager's or an adult's. Yet we keep pushing college-level study methods onto first graders and wonder why homework turns into a nightly fight.
